2.13 million psychotropic tablets and 296 kg of kif: Morocco is flooding Algeria — the ANP holds the barricade

K. Boumediene — Alger, Algérie — 2026-10-21

The raw tally

Two quintals and 96 kilograms of processed kif — 296 kg — seized at the border with Morocco. Two million one hundred and thirty-three thousand eight hundred and twenty-five psychotropic tablets. One kilogram of cocaine. Fifty-one drug traffickers arrested. This is what the ANP pulled out of the networks, in a single week, from 14 to 20 October 2026.

Morocco, hub of the drug trade

These shipments do not fall from the sky. Morocco has long been one of the world's largest producers of cannabis resin — a drug-trafficking hub that the UN describes as “a threat to neighbouring countries”. The Moroccan Rif floods Europe and the Maghreb. And neighbouring Algeria is on the front line. This is no accident: it is a geography of trafficking, in which Algeria is both the target and the barricade.

What this means

Behind every tablet, a teenager. Behind every kilo of kif, a family. Drug trafficking is not a statistic: it is a war waged against Algerian youth, shipment by shipment. And this week, the ANP won a battle — 296 kg and 2.13 million pills that will not reach our streets, our schools, our young people.

Meanwhile, the neighbour preaches lessons

The very Morocco that floods our borders with its kif — 296 kg in one week, 2.13 million psychotropic tablets — lectures us about governance, human rights, democracy. The very country that accuses us of being “dependent on handouts” is flooding our youth with drugs. While it exports its tomatoes and avocados to Europe, we produce our own — and we block its kif at the border. The truth: one of the world's largest cannabis producers has lessons to teach no one — least of all the country standing as the barricade at its door.

The conclusion

2.13 million psychotropic tablets seized in one week. 51 drug traffickers arrested. 296 kg of kif blocked at the border. This is no “border incident”: it is the silent, permanent work of an army defending its youth. Morocco produces the poison. Algeria holds the barricade. And while the neighbour counts its harvests, our soldiers count the seizures.
